A driver’s mate confirm dead after an enunciated truck stacked with packs of rice run into one more truck stacked with cement at Fumesua in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
The two trucks; one conveying rice with the enrollment number GR-2550-E and the other conveying cement with the enlistment number GW-1990-X were all moving from the Ejisu heading towards Kumasi when the incident happened.
The deceased, Abdul Wahid Tahiru, 25, kicked the bucket on the spot while the driver, Martin Musa who supported extreme wounds been hospitalized at the Ejisu Government Hospital.
In the interim, the body of the perished has been stored at the Juaben Government Hospital mortuary.
Giving a record of the incident, the Ejisu Divisional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Francis Mireku, said; “Two trucks; one conveying rice and the other conveying concrete were moving from the Ejisu course towards Kumasi. On arriving at the Alhaji Salia stretch, the truck conveying concrete took a stab at haggling to offload a portion of the sacks of concrete so the mate had landed and attempting to stop a portion of the approaching vehicles however the over speeding truck with the rice didn’t see the driver mate so they impacted which brought about the accident.”
He demonstrated that the convergence of the Ejisu-Kumasi thruway is looking great thus drivers overspeed while employing, what is happening he accepts has caused the region to become accident-inclined.
He added, the driver and his mate of the truck conveying the concrete fled after the incident.
ASP Francis Mireku likewise said the two vehicles have been towed from the accident scene.
