Petr Cech finally explains the reason why Kepa Arrizabalaga was sad to lose his place in Thomas Tuchel’s firing line-up in front of the Club World Cup final.
The Spain international has appreciated something of a renaissance lately, having nominated for Edouard Mendy throughout the span of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kepa had kept five clean sheets in his last eight matches in all contests, and delivered one more achieved show during Wedneday’s 1-0 win over Al Hilal in the semi-final.
Mendy just rejoined the Chelsea crew quickly before that game after he had a full influence in the shocking festivals which welcomed Senegal’s lady, milestone accomplishment at AFCON.
In spite of the speedy circle back, Tuchel picked to reestablish the previous Rennes goalkeeper to the firing line-up at the earliest open door and drop Kepa to the seat.
Clarifying the choice, Chelsea’s specialized chief, Petr Cech, told Channel 4: ‘We have top goalkeepers, the two of them perform on the high level this season. It makes it hard. The equivalent with different players, 25 part crew yet can handle 11 players.
‘We decided to go with Edou in light of the fact that he’s our main goalkeeper, he came here, prepared and is fit. I believe it’s a hard choice to make however he’s our main, he plays.’
